Chief Officer, Caine Martin
Nationality – Australian
Caine was born on the south coast of New South Wales , Australia. After completing high school he did first trip overseas at 19 to surf in Hawaii. He caught the travel bug and hasn’t looked back since.Before he found yachting in 2007 in Italy, he completed a traineeship as an aircraft mechanical engineer and also Studied Nuclear medicine at university for a year.
Before joining M.Y Advantage, Caine worked on MY Plan B, for 5 years that is used extensively by national geographic for marine conservation work and filming. He has travelled extensively; beyond the arctic circle to Svalbard (most northern city on earth) Africa, Asia, Mediterranean, Caribbean, USA, Pacific, Central America, Baltic. Caine considers yachting a passion, his other passions include freediving, surfing (He has been Surfing since 10 years old), and Muay Thai boxing
Chief Engineer, Marvin Gledhill
Nationality – French
Marvin has been sailing our seas since the tender age of 14. Starting out racing lasers in competitions all over Europe, he also became a competitive windsurfer.
Marvin’s career in engineering began at the Marseille Maritime Academy. Marvin has a varied experience having worked on sailing yachts, cruise ships and tankers.
Born and bred in France, the super yacht hub of Antibes is his hometown, so it seemed only natural that Marvin should transition to Super yachts in his early 20s. Now, Marvin has gained an extensive knowledge in super yacht refit projects and rebuilding engine rooms to match up to his high standards.
Marvin’s hobbies include photography, music and he has recently picked up surfing. Among Marvin’s many talents, he speaks three languages fluently, and plays the piano and guitar.
Chief Engineer, Xavier Esnault
Nationality – French
Xavier was born in France, in the town Marseille, which is one of the oldest coastal cities of the Mediterranean Sea. He spent his childhood on his parents sailing boat, making the sea his playground. He studied in the maritime academy of Marseille and then in the merchant marine high school of Nantes. His first professional seafaring position took place on a container carrier, and after sailing on ferries, cable ships, cargo ships, cruise ships in all seas of the world, he joined the yachting world in 2009. Xavier’s teenage passions were sailing on all types of sailing boats, body boarding and climbing in the beautiful Calanques of Cassis, the village which is now his hometown. As a father he is now focused on passing on real values of life to his six year old son. Which entails spending his free time sailing again on his own boat, paddle-boarding, playing golf and travelling.
2nd Engineer, Edward Wakeman
Nationality – English
Born and raised in the small yachting community of Lymington, located on the south coast of England, Edward has always been in and around the world of yachting.
After leaving school he began work in yacht construction and from there he decided to delve deeper into the maritime industry by studying at Warsash Maritime Academy for 3 years where he became a qualified engineering officer, sailing around the world on a range of ships, from container vessels to offshore installation vessels constantly building on his knowledge, skills and experience.
In his free time Edward likes to spend his time out on the Solent fishing, and has recently taken up diving, completing his PADI open water certification.
He is also a keen swimmer and Sunday league football player.
Stewardess/Cook/ Deckhand, Alice Bushelle
Nationality – Australian
Alice Bushelle grew up in Byron Bay, Australia, growing up so close to the ocean and lush surroundings sparked a great love of the outdoors! Diving, swimming, paddle boarding, hiking, horse riding.
Traveling has also been top of the list so working on yachts made a lot of sense and she has loved every minute.
Deckhand/ Dive instructor, Ben Brodie
Nationality – British
Ben was born in England and emigrated to New Zealand when I was 12 years old.He has spent lots of time in the outdoors from an early age, my parents are both outdoor education teachers.Ben became a PADI dive Instructor in 2012, he has worked at 3 dive centers in New Zealand and two 5 star resorts in Fiji.
Ben joined 49M private vessel in the Caribbean last year, and have transitioned from the shore based life to take up a career at sea. He has just recently completed his Yachtmaster offshore in the UK and really enjoyed the challenge. He would like to pursue his sea time and experience to aim for OOW in the near future.Ben enjoys any activities in the water, sailing, paddle boarding, swimming and also photography.
Deckhand, Robin Edge
Nationality – South African
Robin is our experienced instructor of Kite boarding, Surfing and Paddle boarding onboard. Robin grew up in Cape Town, where he never lived more than a few minutes from the Ocean. He loves anything water based, he caught his first wave when he was 7 years old has been surfing ever since.
In 2012 Robin decided to see what the Yachting industry had to offer, it has not disappointed him. Travelling the world and doing what he loves he looks forward to welcoming you onboard and helping to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
Deckhand, Johnny Summerell
Nationality – English
Born and bred in the coastal town of Bournemouth, Jonny was always going to pursue his love for the water. At the ripe age of 18 he travelled to Australia to work and study diving, eventually to become a qualified PADI Instructor, teaching in Sydney. It was here Jonny also discovered his love for travelling and backpacking, later on exploring North, Central and South America finding a world of culture, beautiful landscapes, experiences and refining his Spanish.
In 2014 Jonny found a new and exciting opportunity in the form of yachting where he secured his first job on a 39m motor yacht. Since then he has worked on yachts in the Mediterranean, Caribbean and Central American coast. Now on-board Ad-vantage Jonny hopes to pursue his career and skills even further.
In his free time, Jonny loves to stay active in the form of any exercise, from hiking and archery to meditation and bush craft.
Moby Submarine Pilot, Barry McGowan
Nationality – Scottish
Barry is our Scottish crew member who comes from one of Scotland’s medieval central cities Stirling, where he resides with his lovely wife and two boys.
He has always been interested in the ocean and studied Underwater Science at Plymouth University in the UK. Following this he became an ROV pilot and ended up leading the team as an Offshore Construction Supervisor in the offshore industry for 18 years. With this experience it has been an easy side step for Barry to become our on board submarine pilot and maintenance man for Moby.
In his spare time Barry enjoys cold water swimming in the freezing lochs around Scotland and he also enjoys camping adventures with his family and generally the outdoors life.
