Captain, Wayne Foulis

Nationality – South African

Wayne would like to take this opportunity to welcome you aboard Vantage also to tell you a little about him self and introduce his crew. Wayne grew up on the South African coast near Durban and has been immersed in water his entire life.  As a young adult he was a Surf lifesaver, active scuba diver and general waterman. In his younger years Wayne’s family owned a small sailboat, and it was from this experience that he decided yachting was the career for him. Wayne has covered a significant number of miles during his career and has been lucky enough to cruise Alaska, the Mediterranean, Caribbean, US East Coast, Australia, New Zealand and French Polynesia.  He has run such boats as Déjà Vu, Claire and Pure One.  When not busy running Vantage, he would always be found in the water, surfing, kite boarding or wake surfing, the garden was another of his old haunts, however nowadays dirty nappies, bath time and bed time stories usually take precedence for his baby girl Florence. Wayne is 35 years of age, Lives on the West coast France, and speaks English, Afrikaans, French and basic Spanish.

Your stay onboard Vantage is very important to him and Wayne has selected a fantastic team that will take care of all your needs, so put your feet up, relax and enjoy every minute. 

Captain, Peter Rowsell

Nationality – English

Peter grew up on the Isle of Wight where sailing dominates a lot of peoples calendars, this meant that watersports was something he grew up with. Being a sailing instructor at a young age and working in a boat yard every holiday as a teenager set him in good stead for his career ahead. Peter completed a Bachelor of Science in Rural Land Surveying at an Agricultural university, before he embarked on his career at sea.

Peter’s previous boats have seen him go around the world, from the Arctic Circle, the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Ocean as well as the Mediterranean Sea. In his time off he likes to travel extensively, normally this involves the sea, be it a diving and fishing holiday, to exploring uncharted rivers in Central America in small yachts or racing across the Atlantic on two separate occasions in high performance offshore racing sail yachts.

The yachts Peter has previously worked on have given him a range and wealth of knowledge from very high profile, formal yachts to exploratory yachts that love to use their array of toys in far-flung destinations. He is dedicated to delivering the exact experience any guest may wish for whilst onboard.

Randall

Captain/ Relief First Officer, Randall Bower

Nationality – New Zealand

Randall grew up in Russell, bay of islands, a small village on the east coast New Zealand.  Russell is world known for its sports fishing, diving and cruising, so at the young age he developed a passion for life at sea.

Randall has a broad range of sea going experience including commercial fishing, sport fishing, commercial offshore oil & gas, & Super Yachts cruising the Mediterranean and Caribbean.

Randall went to sea at the age of 16, at 18 and received his first captain license, making him the youngest in New Zealand to do so.  He is the receiver of New Zealand national award for dedication to maritime studies, and he also has a degree in nautical science.

When Randall is not on the water, he enjoys family time with his two kids, taking them camping and water sports.

Captain, Jesse Badger

Nationality – American

A native of Coastal Maine, Jesse has been sailing since the age of 5. After working on the water throughout his high school years, Jesse began an adventure in yachting, which became a career, spanning over two decades. Taking over his first command at the age of 25, Starship was one of the preeminent charter yachts of her time. Decked with a Bell helicopter, it was also aboard Starship that Jesse developed his love for aviation and attained his helicopter pilot’s license. He has spent 15 years cruising the Mediterranean waters on both Charter yachts and private. Gibraltar to Beirut, France to Tunisia and everything in between.
When not crafting memorable yachting experiences for his guests, Jesse can be found at home in the mountains of New Hampshire with his wife and young son, hiking, downhill skiing and making maple syrup. An advocate for Waldorf education, Jesse is an active member of his son’s school board and loves expounding on all things school related. A proud member of the Vantage team, Jesse is excited to have you aboard and together with our world class crew, show you the trip of a lifetime!
